Today, Friday, the Palestinian resistance in Gaza seized control of an Israeli spying balloon that fell in the northern Gaza Strip, amid the celebration of the uncle of the platforms. The occupation army confirmed the fall of the balloon and claimed that it was not afraid of information leaking from it.

An IDF spokesman said, “Today, an IDF reconnaissance balloon went off and fell inside the Gaza Strip. There is no fear of a tangible leak of information. The circumstances of the accident will be investigated. It is a normal situation on the home front.”

While the occupation army did not provide further details, Palestinians from Gaza circulated through social networks, a video clip showing the remains of a balloon lying on agricultural land.

The Israeli army uses many airships equipped with surveillance cameras to monitor the border areas of the besieged Gaza Strip.

Israeli bombing

In the same context, Israeli reconnaissance planes and artillery bombed this afternoon, Friday, agricultural land east of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian News Agency quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the reconnaissance planes fired at least two missiles towards Palestinian lands east of Beit Hanoun, on which a military observation balloon belonging to the occupation army fell.

The agency said that tanks stationed at the Beit Hanoun checkpoint fired their shells at the aforementioned area, stressing that “the sounds of explosions are still heard in Beit Hanoun as a result of the artillery shelling.”

Israeli military vehicles penetrated into the northern Gaza Strip amid firing artillery shells, and the agency stated that more than 10 Israeli military vehicles, tanks and bulldozers penetrated east of the town of Beit Hanoun and targeted areas on the northern borders of the Strip.

The Israeli occupation navy also opened fire from its heavy machine guns and tear gas canisters towards fishermen in the northern Gaza Strip.

The Israeli gunboats stationed in the north of the Gaza Strip opened fire with heavy machine guns towards the fishermen’s boats operating in the Al-Sudaniah and Al-Waha areas, forcing the fishermen to leave the sea.

A painful security blow

Tweeters and activists interacted with the incident of the fall of the Israeli balloon, and Muhammad Al-Madhoun said that the incident represented a painful security blow to the occupation, because “the balloon is equipped with cameras and high-precision spy devices, which are now in the hands of the resistance.”

He wrote, “The Palestinian resistance managed, shortly before, to shoot down a military balloon belonging to the occupation army in the Beit Hanoun area in the northern Gaza Strip, and controlled it and transferred it to a safe place.”

Jaber Al-Harami wrote, “The resistance in Gaza controls an Israeli balloon used for espionage and surveillance, carrying a high-quality camera, after it was shot down in the northern Gaza Strip.

Commenting on the incident, Adham Abu Salmiya wrote, “The Zionist enemy described the incident as very dangerous. The spokesman for the enemy army says that the observation balloon in the sky of Gaza was shot down.”

He added, “The enemy’s army: We were unable to access the important equipment on it, and it was controlled by the Al-Qassam Brigades, which includes sensitive and high-resolution surveillance cameras with a depth of up to 40 kilometers.”

As for the Iranian journalist and analyst, Muhammad Al-Gharawi, he wrote, “The fall of an advanced Israeli balloon used for military purposes such as espionage and surveillance in the Gaza Strip, and the resistance is controlling it.”

Muhammad Saeed Nashwan believes that the balloon has become a booty in the hands of the resistance and wrote, “A while ago, the resistance in Gaza shot down a Zionist spy balloon equipped with very, very advanced cameras and carrying very sensitive information and materials as described by the media. Now it has become a booty in the hands of the resistance, thanks to God.”
